The Trustees meet regularly to discuss issues and make decisions that affect the future of the charity. Discussions are always wide ranging and in-depth as you would expect. Here are a few words of introduction to each of them.

Meet the Trustees

Susan Elson MBE (Chair)
Sue Elson was admitted as a solicitor in 1970. For over 20 years she has worked as a lawyer in the field of professional conduct. She sits as an Immigration Judge. Sue was awarded an MBE in 2007 for services to the administration of justice. Sue has grown up twins, a son and a daughter. She describes herself as a "country bumpkin" with interests in horses, dogs and gardening.

Lewis Green ACIB
Lewis spent most of his working life in retail banking. However after taking early retirement he became involved in companies dealing with vehicle leasing and was a Director of a marketing company. Although now officially retired Lewis is the Trustee who is primarily responsible to oversee the day to day running of AFTAID.
Maj Brian M Hudson
Brian has enjoyed a career in the Army, serving in the Royal Signals and rising through the ranks, ending as Major. During his 39 year career he served world wide but in latter years was responsible for welfare of military families and young soldiers.
On retirement he has kept his interest in the Military through his involvement with various Army Charities. He is Treasurer for West Sussex Army Benevolent Fund, Secretary for The Royal Sussex Regimental Association and assistant benevolence Secretary for the Royal Military Police.
He has been married to his wife Susan for 46 years and has 2 sons one a Detective Chief Inspector in the Metropolitan Police, the other a former Army Officer now working as consultant with a communications company.
Malcolm Shaw
Malcolm brings to AFTAID a very broad experience in finance and business management. He was educated in South London and after a career in asset finance is now enjoying retirement in Kent with his wife who is a midwife. Malcolm is also actively involved with other charitable trusts.
